About Western Basketball

The Western Region wing of the Ghana Basketball Federation.

Who we are

The Western Basketball Association (WBA) is the Western Region wing of the Ghana Basketball Federation. We organise and develop basketball across Ghana's Western Region on the federation's behalf, and we follow its statutes and regulations, and those of FIBA, the International Basketball Federation.

What we do

  • Competitions: the Western Basketball League, cups, tournaments and 3x3 events, played under the FIBA Official Basketball Rules.
  • Registration: teams, players, coaches and officials in the region, checked by the association before they join the system.
  • Development: coaching workshops, referee courses, grassroots clinics, mentoring and emergency response training.
  • Community: school and community basketball, and partnerships that keep the game growing.

Our wings

Three wings sit under the WBA's administration, each looking after its own community:

  • Western Basketball Referees: floor and table officials, their courses, assessments and appointments.
  • Western Basketball Players: the players of the region: registration, welfare and their voice in the association.
  • Western Basketball Coaches: coaches and assistant coaches: workshops, mentoring and standards on the bench.
